The Tutoring Center allows Saddleback students to connect in person and online with tutors to help them succeed in their studies. Tutoring is offered Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In-Person Tutoring

Saddleback tutors are in person on the second floor of the LRC. Tutoring is offered on a drop-in basis Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. To access tutoring services,Ìý (does not show on transcripts).

We also offer quiet study areas and computer stations for students, and free Wi-Fi is available.


Online Tutoring: Accessed through our Canvas Shell

Saddleback Peer Tutors offers online tutoring on Canvas via live online face-to-face video tutoring; question drops off, and paper review Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Special population students will be granted additional tutoring time (the length depends on tutor availability and students in the queue).Ìý

Extensions of tutoring sessions are permitted only when there are no other students waiting. NOTE: The tutor's professional discretion is the final decision to extend sessions beyond the set 30-60 minutes.

Tutoring Success by the Numbers

Recent data found that students* who completed 6 or more hours of tutoring during a semester had higher success rates, retention, and persistence. Additionally, students who entered a semester on academic probation (below aÌý 2.0 GPA) and completed 6 or more hours of tutoring were more likely to endÌýthe same semester with above a 2.0 GPA.

*Metrics: Student had 6 or more positive attendance hours and has one of the three educational goals: Obtain an AA/AS degree and transfer to a four-year year, transfer to a four-year institution without AA/AS, or four-year college student taking courses to meet four-year requirements.

On-campus computer stations and quiet study spaces areÌýavailableÌýon the second and thirdÌýfloors of the LRC & Library building. No reservations are needed. Headsets are available for check-out.

The LRC Tutoring Center is always looking for qualified tutors. Our hourly pay ranges from $19.00+ per hour, based on experience and education. Come join our team!

If you are a ÃÛÌÒAPP student and would like to become a tutor, please follow these instructions:

Requirements

  • Applicant is currently enrolled at ÃÛÌÒAPP
  • Applicant is verified as being qualified to tutor a specific subject by a Saddleback faculty member (either the Faculty Recommendation Form or a regular letter of recommendation)*
  • Ideally, applicant has completed the relevant courses at ÃÛÌÒAPP and received a high grade

* Math is excluded from this requirement
