Bus Operator/Driver Commercial Learner's Permit program provides comprehensive training on the fundamental operations of OCTA buses, including pre-trip inspections, safety protocols, behind-the-wheel training, and guidance for obtaining a commercial permit and applying with OCTA. Additionally, students will develop essential study skills to prepare for the Commercial Learner's Permit test and gain valuable customer service skills crucial for success in the field.

NOTE: Participation in this program does not obligate students to pursue employment with OCTA upon completion.

Qualified participants who complete the training program are guaranteed an interview as an OCTA bus driver. As part of the program, participants will have the opportunity to work directly with OCTA to prepare them for the application and interview process.

Once you aaply to Saddleback college, you will receive a student ID number. You will need a student ID number before continuing to Stap 2.

  1. Go to www.saddleback.edu and click on Logins.

  4. Select the correct term.

Catalog Description

This course is designed to assist students in understanding opportunities available to them in different career and educational areas in transportation. Students will also learn about and be exposed to existing transportation related career education pathways and how to successfully transition into a career education program of study in transportation. Students will explore available transportation occupations, careers, educational or training programs using a variety of available sources, such as interviews with business or college representatives, job shadowing, tours, guest speakers, and career and educational fairs/events.

Catalog Description

This course prepares students for the California Commercial Leaner’s Permit (CLP.) Students will review information in the California Commercial Driver Handbook, including sample test questions. Students will receive behind the wheel and vehicle inspection training.

Once registered, please confirm your spot by opening the registration dashboard and viewing your registration information. You should see both 440NC and 441NC in your class schedule. In addition, you will receive a confirmation email the following day regarding your class registration.
