I received my Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine in 1996.    In addition to teaching, I worked in the biotech industry for much of my career.  I have had positions as a Research Scientist at LightSense Inc., Sr. Project Engineer at Nanogen Inc., Research Specialist at University of California, Irvine, and Sr. Manager of Special Projects Research at Burstein Technologies Inc.   Most of my work has been in the chemical and engineering areas of medical and clinical diagnostic platform development.  My professional publications include a course textbook (General, Organic, and Biochemistry), co-authorship in three other books, 30 journal publications, and several patents.   I am the founder and president of collegechem.com, an academic curriculum publishing company.  I am the Alliance Director for the National Science Foundations (NSF) INCLUDES Alliance STEM Core Program.
